Fixed Resistors' Definition and Classification

Writer:Microhm Page View:Date:2019-04-29
The most common resistors have a fixed value of resistance so are often called fixed resistors. Resistors are components used to resist the flow of electric current and have a stated value. They are shown on circuit schematic diagrams using one of the symbols shown in below.

Various types of fixed resistors used to reduce voltages and currents around a circuit to help active components, transistors and integrated circuits for example, can carry out tasks such as producing or amplifying signals within the circuit.

Resistors are also used in conjunction with other components such as inductors and capacitors to process signals in many ways. As resistors are passive components and they cannot amplify or increase voltages currents or signals.

According to structures and production technologies, resistors can be divided to thin film resistors, thick film resistors, shunt, metal foil resistors, metal film resistors,  carbon film resistors, carbon composition resistor, wire-wound resistors, high power metal film, fusible resistor and more. All of them can be founded at Microhm.
